Hi, I’m Rhea
I’ve got 10 years of extensive marketing experience under my belt, including 5 years of running my own home-based baking business.
I’ve juggled a variety of roles in my career, including B2B marketing, public sector, and non-profit.
How did I start out?
In 2015
I was introduced to social media marketing at a small agency in Guyana. This is where I learned all about how social media was used as a marketing tool. I was captivated, and I immediately knew marketing was what I wanted to do for the rest of my career.
Later that year, I branched out and decided to start a home-based baking business fresh out of graduating with a BSc. in Public Management from the University of Guyana. (Talk about a 180 turn right?)
For 5 years I juggled my small business (SweetEats by Rhea) while working as a radio broadcaster, B2B marketing executive, and even working in client relations in the oil and gas industry.
Then in 2021,
I was offered a contract through the IDB to work as the Social Media Officer at the Ministry of Human Services & Social Security. This experience changed my life in the best way.
I loved being able to do PR and social media management for a good cause.
During my time at the ministry, I not only managed all the social channels, but I also planned events, travelled across Guyana covering outreach campaigns and coordinated the ministry’s youth programme “The Young Influencers’’.
A personal highlight for me was helping to plan We Lift 2 and 3, the largest women’s expo in the Caribbean. I met hundreds of talented and committed female small business owners.
They inspired me to continue sharing my knowledge of marketing, and I took the opportunity to teach over 200 inspiring women business owners the Introduction to Social Media Marketing course through the ministry’s highly successful free technical and vocational learning programme, WIIN (Women’s Innovation & Investment Network).
In 2023,
I got married and moved to the UK. I was excited and sad at the same time. Excited to start the most amazing chapter of my life, and sad that the most fulfilling job I've ever had has come to an end.
Fast forward to the present, and here I am with Social by Rhea - my business dedicated to helping small business owners transform their online presence and grow their businesses.
My Approach
Knowing where your business/brand stands is important for planning its future. This is why the step is conducting a detailed social media audit of all platforms. The social media audit is done to determine the consistency of branding and appearance on each platform, assess current social strategies, establish who is engaging with the brand, establish the brand's target audience, analyse any business competitors, and provide any recommendations for improvement.
The second step is creating the ideal social media strategy to align business and marketing goals. This includes setting SMART goals, creating the ideal audience personas, conducting a competitive analysis vis a SWOT analysis, optimising accounts, selecting the best social platforms for results and creating a content strategy.
Once the strategy is established, a detailed social media content calendar is curated, along with creating all of the content and scheduling. This is where we can decide whether your business will continue with monthly social media content creation and scheduling. Three months is a good benchmark to measure success, especially for small businesses and startups.
A successful social strategy takes extensive research and execution. This is why I work with businesses and brands one-on-one to understand your business and its growth needs.
